The Tavern

I remember them standing close to the shore
staring at the black sea below
A dead man came by with a curse in his eye
it was a secret that no-one would know
a secret that no-one would know

His face was so cold, his eyes so untold
his arms spread wide open in flight
someone has done this
someone amoung us
someone has killed him tonight
yes, someone has slain him tonight

It was a very cold night and the tavern was close
so they all barged down for a shot
On this very cold night with the truth just as close
as the stars and as clear as the wind
don't we all fear the truth so unkown...

Drifting away from this barren desire
casting the odds in the fire
He was drowing his sorrows, but drowing his laughter
in fear of the truth he has known
Don't we all fear the truth to be known

bring me more wine and put it down by my side
bring me more wine and I'll make you decide
bring me more wine and I'll make you forget
of all of the trouble that still lies ahead
bring me that bottle, together well ride
behind those dead eyes I see the pain that you hide
and these they bleed on the 21st fret
but this guitar stil feeds off the noise in his head
yes the woman last night will take another tonight
and tomorrow she'll have you and say everything's right
no I can't understand why this love had to die
no, you don't need to tell me, now don't reason why
